Rex & Didi Roycroft

 

Didi has been racing for 5 years starting with Escort in C Grade. 

Meeting her husband at Whangarei Speedway. 

Rex was the (un)official meet and greet person and

 Didi was initially too shy to speak to the legendary Re

x Roycroft but we got married 10 months later and he says

 he's the one who doesn't get to speak now.

 

She is a trained nurse and has Nursed in way out places;

was hostage in Guadalcanal;

Camel jockey in Oz Outback;

Archery on horseback in Mongolia. 

 

 

Her son Ben used to race & wants to get back into it when the house built. 

She describes herself as a "Wanna-be farmer" in Hikurangi. 

 

 

Achievements include:

Sportsman of the Year 08/09 Kaikohe, Season Points Leader Dargaville, Whangarei, Kaikohe, 2NZ 07/08, 3NZ 09/10

 


 
Husband Rex has been racing for about 30 years; he started life as a  Swinger

with Side Cars at Western Springs; dabbled with 

MX but settled on Dirt Track as his chosen sport.

 

 

All of Rex's children raced successfully and all three wives do too.

Rex has about 20 Championships and season points trophies; 

1NZ 07/08 Production;

 3NZ Production,

  Driver of Year Dargaville 08/09;

 

 

Rex's car of choice is the Holden Commodore and hes is known as "The Old Fox"

and is as cunning as one. 

Rex & Didi both enjoy taking people for rides

and mentoring new drivers (especially blondes).

 

 

Rex's parents - Ken and Ruth. 

 

Ken was successful driver at Kaikohe club and founding member. 

And mum Ruth had her first race at age 62 in Rex's car and she won.

Ruth is a patron of Kaikohe and she owns a black Prelude these days

and enjoys being taken for fast spin by grandchildren.
