Peggy first became interested in speedway when living in Hawkes Bay in the 1950's with her husband Paul; they were regular visitors at Ohakea, Levin, and Pukekohe speedways.

At this time Peggy and her husband were also racing Speedboats. "Clive Commet" was one of the most consent racing boats. The boat was a cracker box design with a mercury motor.

In 1963 they sold the property they had in the Hawkes Bay and moved to Okaihau, Northland  where they purchased a dairy farm. In 1973 the farm was sold and Peggy and her husband moved to Kerikeri.

In 1973 Ray Jordan, John Jenkinson, Mr Roycroft, granddad Pearson founded the  Kaikohe Car Club, at the time Peggy and her husband joined Kaikohe Speedway (her husband as a driver and herself as a volunteer).

Over the years Peggy has done everything from gate duties, lap scoring etc and now done 21 years on the raffle tickets.

In the early years Peggy remembers just the two Northland clubs Kaikohe and Whangarei, these two clubs  use to worked hand in during a race season sharing Lap Scorers and flag marshals etc.

Later Taipa came on board, and then Dargaville.

Peggy is one of our valuable volunteers at Kaikohe Car Club Inc. You will always see Peggy at the track, selling raffle tickets and doing what-ever else she can to help.

Peggy received the Car Club trophy in 1988 for services to the Kaikohe Car Club

in 1989 Peggy was made a life time member of The Kaikohe Car Club
