Kaikohe speedway held its first domestic race meet of 2011 on Sunday 16th January, with another scorching summer;

The start of the days events saw great line up of cars (even visiting drivers from as far away as Maramarura). With eleven grades, a fast track visitors, spectators and drivers were not be dissappointed.

On the calendar for the days racing - C/Production 20 lap dash, Super Production Challenge and great fast racing.

With the Production men out first saw Ray Dare 888 take the wins is rounds 1,3, and 4 and Grant Kidd a first in round 2 and 2 seconds for the day, Bruce Mallindine also earing 2 seconds over the 4 rounds; Rex Roycroft spent all night replacing his diff in the VN (he broke it in Whanagrei the day before), without time to lock the diff left Rex battling for the minor placing with six other Production Men.

the second race saw Eleven Supers, Ltd's and B grades grace the track as one mixed event, vetran racer Ray Jordan 97 dominated the Super saloons for the first three rounds (but bowed out round 4 to give the other super drivers a "fighting chance")leaving Mad Max 58, Geordie Inglis 51 and Anthiny Dale 44 fighting for the bridemaids positions.

LTD Saloons saw had visiting driver Lyndon Morrisson 35 taking 3 of the wins of our local boys, John Hussey a win in round 2; other visiting drivers Mike Sparrow "mini Sprints" had trouble keeping his power steering belt on (loosing it in 3 of the 4 races) as his car powered around the track; It was great to see good number of quads up from auckland with Stephen Emm taking 3 of the days wins.

C/Production Ladies lined up for their 20 lap trophy dash ("the bitches line-up" as described by our commentator) as these ladies take no prisioners in this mixed grade, The racing was fast and tight with Wendy Scott 12 emerging the victor of the bitches and the holder on this trophy for the third year in a row.

The Super Productions in a grade of their own with turbo'b engines and blow off values were challenging for the Super Production challenge trophy during the course of the day; Bruce Mallidine 49's debut on the track, Boss Harris 555WRX, George Price 103 and Daniel de Waal 94 all trying to take this trophy away with them. The main challenge came between George and Boss every round Georges tyre popping in round four leaving the trophy open for Boss.

Kaikohe speedway would like to thank everyone who makes these days possible.....our next race meet in on the 6th Febuary.

Plans are well underway for our Easter Stampede, "3 days of hards out racing at it best" this year easter will fall on the 21, 22, 23 April. Friday will host the CTRA champs and Sat and sunday will be the fast and the furious.
